Datum Feature Symbol

“Datum Feature Symbol” command creates datum symbols.

To create a Datum symbol:

  1. Start “Datum Feature Symbol” in the Home Ribbon Bar => Annotation Group
  2. Type Datum letter in the “Datum Identifier” tab.
  3. Click Drop Down arrow to open more settings in the command dialog box.
  4. Select leader type from the list in the Leader => Type 
  5. Click on “Select Terminating Object” in the leader tab to define the datum object.
  6. Select the Datum object.
  7. “Specify Location” in the “Origin” tab will be highlighted automatically. Left-click in the sheet to specify the datum location in the sheet.
  8. The command will be restart. If you will define new datum, follow steps 2, 3, 4, 5., 6
  9. To finish command, click the middle mouse button or press “Esc”.

Define Datum on a Surface with a Plain arrow:

  1. Start “Datum Feature Symbol” command
  2. Type Datum letter in the “Datum Identifier” tab.
  3. Set “Plain” as a Leader type.
  4. Click on “Select Terminating Object” in the leader tab to specify the location of the arrowhead.
  5. Specify the location of the datum identifier
  6. “Specify Location” in the “Origin” tab will be highlighted automatically. Specify the location of the datum letter on the screen.
  7. Finish command

Define Datum on a Surface with a Datum Leader:

  1. Start “Datum Feature Symbol” command
  2. Type Datum letter in the “Datum Identifier” tab.
  3. Set “Datum” as a Leader type.
  4. Click on “Select Terminating Object” in the leader tab to specify the location of the arrowhead.
  5. Specify the location of the Datum.
  6. If you want to move the datum identifier and arrow, press “Shift” and move the mouse to the new location.
  7. “Specify Location” in the “Origin” tab will be highlighted automatically. Specify the location of the datum letter on the screen.
  8. Finish command

Define Datum on the center axis of the Dimension:

  1. Start “Datum Feature Symbol” command
  2. Type Datum letter in the “Datum Identifier” tab.
  3. Set “Plain” or “Datum” as a Leader type. 
  4. Click on dimension arrow as shown in the figure.
  5. Specify the location of the Datum on the same line of the dimension text.
  6. “Specify Location” in the “Origin” tab will be highlighted automatically. Specify the location of the datum letter on the same line of the dimension text.
  7. Finish command

Define Datum on the center of the Circle:

  1. Start “Datum Feature Symbol” command
  2. Type Datum letter in the “Datum Identifier” tab.
  3. Set “Datum” as a Leader type. 
  4. Click on the Radial Dimension text to define a circle center as a Datum.
  5. Specify the location of the Datum identifier on the bottom of the dimension text.
  6. Finish command
