Flattened Sheet Metal in NX Drafting

You can create a flattened sheet metal view into the technical drawing in NX. These technical drawings which include flattened sheet metal are used to show buckling centerline locations, dimensions, bending angles, and bending directions for manufacturing operations.

To show flattened sheet metal views in the technical drawings

  1. Start the “Flat Pattern” command
    • Home Ribbon Bar => Flat Pattern Group => “Flat Pattern”
    • Menu => Insert => Flat Pattern => “Flat Pattern”
  2. The dialog box will open.
  3. Select the “Upward Face”
  4. Click the “Ok” button.
  5. The “Flat Pattern” view will be created automatically in the “Model Views” on the “Part Navigator”
  6. Start the Drafting Application (Ctrl+Shift+D)
  7. Start the “Base View” command as shown in the figure.
  8. Select Flat Pattern view from the “Model View to Use” drop-down list in the “Model View” group.
  9. The preview will be seen near the mouse cursor in the graphics window.
  10. Click on the screen to create and specify the view location.
