Resize Bend Radius in NX Sheet Metal

You can resize the sheet metal Bend Radius in NX Sheet Metal after the sheet metal model is created. You can change all the bend radius (Method 1,2) or selected bends radius (Method 3)

There are three different methods for resizing the bend radius.

Method 1: By changing “Bend Radius” in the “Sheet Metal” preferences.

  1. Open the “Sheet Metal” preferences.
    File => Preferences => Sheet Metal
  2. The “Sheet Metal” preferences dialog box will open.
  3. Change the “Bend Radius” value under the “Global Parameters” group as shown in the figure.
  4. Click on the “Ok” or “Apply” button.
  5. The sheet Bend Radius will change in the working part.
  6. Check the model.

Method 2: By changing the base tab feature thickness.

  1. Open the “Edit” dialog box of the main Tab.
    1. Click twice on the main tab in the graphics window or in the “Part Navigator” on the left panel.
    2. Right-click on the main tab then select “Edit Parameters”.
  2. Click on the “Multi Bend References” group bar to open.
  3. Click on the “=” sign on the left of the “Bend Radius” value box as shown in the figure.
  4. An opening list will open as seen in the figure.
  5. Click on the “Use Local Value”
  6. The locked “Bend Radius” value box will open.
  7. Type a new Bend Radius value into the “Bend Radius” box.
  8. Click the “Ok” button to update the new sheet metal bend radius.
  9. Check the model.

Method 3: By using the “Resize Bend Radius” command. (By using this command you can change the selected bend radius values.)

  1. Start the “Resize Bend Radius” command.
    1. Menu => Insert => Resize => “Resize Bend Radius”
    2. Home Ribbon Bar => Resize Group => “Resize Bend Radius” (hidden)
  2. Select the resizing method
    1. Fixed Tab/Flange Position: The model does not change. Only the selected bends radius changes in the model.
    2. Fixed Unfolded Length: The unfolded 2d shape of the sheet metal model does not change. The folded model flange lengths change.
  3. Select bends in the model.
  4. Type a new radius value into the “Bend Radius” box.
  5. Click the “Ok” button.
