You can form a solid body shape to sheet metal in NX as seen in the figure.

To form a solid body face to sheet metal:
- Create a sheet metal model in the sheet metal application.
- Create a solid body in the sheet metal model.
- Start the “Solid Punch” command
Home Ribbon Bar => Punch Group => More drop-down arrow => “Solid Punch - Select the target face side the punch will be applied.
“Select Face” in the Target group is selected. - “Select Face” in the “Tool” group will be activated automatically after step 4.
- Select the tool body.
- Click the middle mouse button or the “Ok” button to create a solid punch and exit from the command.
Note: You can create a solid punch feature by using other components in the assembly modeling.
For this operation:
- Activate the sheet metal model in the assembly file.
- If not, convert the application to sheet metal modeling. (Ctrl+Shift+m)
- Start the “Solid Punch” command.
- Select the sheet metal body in the active component.
- “Select Face” in the “Tool” group will be activated automatically
- Most Probably You can not select the body of the other components in the assembly.
- Change the selection scope to “Entire Assembly” as shown in the figure.
- Select a tool body.
- Click the “Ok” button to create a solid punch.
