Inserting Symbols into Note in NX

You can insert GDT symbols and other symbols into the notes by using the “Symbol” command in Siemens NX CR 2206.

The most used symbols are Diameter, Square, Depth, Plus/Minus, Centerline, degree, Counterbore, Ohm, Approximate dimension, and GDT symbols.

In NX 2206 release, the inserting symbol function changed in the “Note” command.

To insert symbols into Notes:

  1. After starting the “Note” command. The General tab will be opened on the ribbon bar. 
  2. Click on the symbol icon in the insert group as shown in the figure.
  3. The latest used symbols will open under the “Symbol” icon.
  4. If you want to use another symbol, Click on the “More Symbols” as shown in the figure.
  5. The “Symbols” pop-up box will open.
  6. To insert a symbol into the note:
    1. Select a symbol then click on the “Insert Character” icon at the bottom of the dialog box.
    2. Click twice on the “Symbol” icon to insert it into the Note.
  7. Click on the “Close” button in the dialog box to exit the “Symbol” function.

Important Note: Do not use the “Esc” key to exit the “Symbol” function. If you click twice on the “Esc” key, you can close the note command and you can lose all the text you wrote.
