You can create straight lines out of sketches in NX modeling.
These lines can be created:
- between two points.
- between a point and tangent of a circular curve or edge
- at angle
- along x,y, and z directions
- perpendicular to a selected object
To create straight lines “Line” command is used in NX Modeling. The command location in the “Curve Ribbon Bar” is shown in the figure.
To create a line between two points:
- Start the “Line” command.
- Set the “Start point” option to “Point” or “inferred”.
- Select the first point
- Select the second point.
- The preview of the line will be seen in the graphics window.
- Click the “OK” button to create a line and exit from the command.
To create a tangent line:
- Start the “Line” command.
- Set the “Start point” option to “Tangent”
- Select the first circular object.
- Set the “End Point” to “Tangent”.
- Select the second circular object.
- The line preview will be seen in the graphics window.
- You can change the line side on the circular object by the handle on the circular object.
- The line start and end point is created on the circular object. You can move the start and end points of the line by dragging the arrowhead of the line preview.
Also, you can change the length of the line by changing the values in the “Limits tab. - Click the “OK” button to create a line and exit from the command.
Note: Also you can create lines at an angle, along x,y, and z directions, normal to a planar object. You can’t see these options at the start of the command.
To create lines by using these methods.
- Start the line command.
- Set the “Start point” option to “Point” or “inferred”.
- Click on the “End Options”
- There will be new options
- At Angle
- Along XC
- Along YC
- Alonx ZC
