You can project curves onto the faces of solid bodies, surfaces, or planes in the Siemens NX Modeling. You can project curves along a vector or along a face normal.
To project curves onto a surface:
- Start the “Project Curve” command:
- Curve Ribbon Bar => Derived Group => Project Curve
- Menu => Insert => Derived Curve => Project
- The command dialog box will open.
- The “Select Curve or Point” bar in the “Curves or Points to Project” tab is highlighted automatically at the start.
- Select curves to project.
- Click the middle mouse button once time to activate the “Select Object” bar in the “Objects to Project To” tab.
- Select an object (Surface, 3D model, plane) to project the curves on it.
- Click the middle mouse button to activate “Specify Direction” in the “Projection Direction” tab.
- Projection Direction Methods:
- Along Vector: Creates a projection along a selected vector.
- Along Face Normal: Creates a projection along a selected object at step 5 which the projection will be created on it.
- Set the “Projection Direction Method” to “Along Vector”.
- The direction handles will appear in the graphics window.
- Select the projection direction.
- The preview of the projected curve will be seen in the graphics window.
- Click on the “OK” button in the command dialog box to create a projected curve and close the command dialog box.
