“Delete Face” command remove faces from the solid body.
There are four different methods in the “Delete Face” command in the first tab of the command opening window.
- Face: Deletes selected faces.
- Blend: Delete blend faces.
- Hole: Deletes holes of specified size
- Blend Size: Deletes constant-radius blends.
Note: Mostly, I prefer to use the face-delete method. Other methods are easy ways to delete specified faces. (Same Diameter or blend size). But it might be out of your control if there are too many holes or same blend sizes on the model. My advice is to select faces separately on the model for safer design and model reliability
Face Delete: removes selected faces on the solid body.
Example: You want to delete text and holes in the model
- Activate the “Delete Face” command.
- Set delete-method as “Face”
- Select Holes and text on the screen by dragging the mouse. (Also you can select each surface separately by clicking on it)
- Click the Middle Mouse Button to finish. (Also you can finish by clicking Ok or Apply on command window )
Blend Delete: You can delete blended faces on the model.
Note: Alternatively you can remove blended faces on the model by changing “Face Rule” on the top border. Change “Face Rule” as “Connected Blend Faces” while the type is set as a face in the first tab of the command window.
Example: You want to delete blended faces
- Activate the “Delete Face” command.
- Set type as a “Blend”
- Select one face on the blended face. The rest of the blend faces will select automatically
- Select other blended faces.
- Click the Middle Mouse Button to finish. (Also you can finish by clicking Ok or Apply on command window )
Hole Delete: You can delete holes in the solid body. This method has the advantage of selecting all holes with less than the specified diameter.
Note: Alternatively you can use the face-delete method in the command but you should select all faces of the hole one by one.
Example: You want to delete holes in the model
- Activate the “Delete Face” command.
- Set the method as a “Hole”
- Select the cylindrical face of the hole.
- Three holes will be selected atomically because their diameters are equal. If you don’t want to delete all equal holes, remove click near “Select Holes By Size”
- Click the Middle Mouse Button to finish.
Blend Size: It looks like blend delete but you can delete all blends under specified diameter. (I prefer to use blend instead of this because it is hard to control “Blend Size”. I think it is better to select each blend faces one by one)
Example: You want to delete the blended faces on the model.
- Activate the “Delete Face” command.
- Set the method as a “Blend Size”
- Select the blended face of the model to delete.
- Type radius value in the “Blend Size” box. All of the blended faces less and equal to defined value will be selected automatically.
- Look model carefully. (Blend size select and deletes automatically other blend faces on model.)
- Click the Middle Mouse Button to finish.
