You can create centerlines between parallel curves or through points on a technical drawing by using the “2d Centerline” command in the NX Drafting.
To activate command:
- Menu => Insert => Centerline => 2d Centerline
- Home Ribbon Bar => Annotation Group => Centerline drop-down arrow => 2D Centerline
To create centerline between straight lines:
- Start “2D Centerline” command
- Set the type of the centerline as “From Curves” on the first tab of the command dialog box.
- Select the first straight curve
- Select the second straight curve
- Click “Ok” to finish the command
Note: This command creates centerlines on the center of two parallel lines. If the straight lines are not parallel do not use this command. It does not create a centerline on the middle angle of the lines. The image shows the angle differences between the centerline and two edges.
To create centerline through points:
- Start “By Points” command
- Set the type of the centerline as “From Curves” on the first tab of the command dialog box.
- Select the first point
- Select the second point
- Click “Ok” to finish the command
