Changing x,y Sketch Axis in NX

The sketch x, y-axis can be changed or reversed, during sketch creation in NX.

To set new axis directions for the sketch creation

  1. Start the sketch command.
  2. The Create Sketch” command dialog box will open.
  3. Select a face or plane to create a sketch.
  4. Click on the “CSYS” icon on the command dialog box.
  5. The “CSYS” dialog box will open
  6. On the first tab select “Plane, X-axis, Point” or  “Plane, Y-axis, Point”
  7. Click on “Specify Plane” in the Plane for Z-axis” and select face or plane to specify sketch working plane
  8. Click on Specify vector in the “X-axis on Plane” and select an object to specify sketch x-axis
    To change direction click on the “Reverse” icon the dialog box or arrow in the graphics window appeared on the selected edge.
  9. Click on the “Specify Point” in the “Origin on Plane” to specify sketch CSYS origin point.
  10. Click “Ok”
  11. Create sketch dialog box will open again. 
  12. Click “Ok” in the dialog box.
  13. A working sketch will be active.
