In some of the conditions creating a dimension on a circular object that specifies a tangent point might be a problem. The reasons and solutions of this problem are listed below.
Problem:
- I can not select a tangent point on the circle.
- The “Tangent Point” snapping option turns off automatically when I start the dimension command. All “Snapping Options” became deactivated automatically and I can not change them.
- I can not activate the “Tangent Point” snapping option on the “Top Border Bar” when the “Dimension” command is active.
- When I try to select the second object to dimension, the Snap options change and I can not change them.
Notes for Solution:
- First of all, if you want to dimension a tangent point on a circular object, the “Tangent Point” snapping option should be activated.
- Snapping options change according to command and selections in the command dialog box in NX.
Solution:
- Start the “Rapid Dimensioning” Command.
- Snapping options on the top border bar is active because the “Select First Object” bar in the “References” tab is active. You can change the “Snapping options”
- Select the first dimensioning point.
- Snapping options turn off automatically and you can not select a tangent point on a circular object. The dimension snap on the circle center or curve end.
- Solution:
- In step 3 you did not select o point.
- You selected a curve or another object.
- The “Rapid dimension” command tries to create a dimension by using the selected object. The “Specify Location” bar is highlighted automatically. The snap options turn off because of the “Specify Location” bar activation in the command dialog box.
- Click on the “Select Second Object” bar under the “References” tab in the dialog box.
- The “Snap Options” will be activated automatically.
- Turn on the “Tangent Point” snapping option on the “Top Border Bar”
- You can select a tangent point on a circle.
